Joey is the fourth book in the Gates of Heaven series by M. Tasia. Joey Tall is a man with secrets that he doesn’t share with anyone and he isn’t planning on doing it any time soon. He works at a bar because he needs to earn some money. He doesn’t get involved with other people; he tries to avoid talking to anyone if he can, but he can’t seem to stop his heart from jumping whenever he sees Sam. Sam is a handsome and striking LAPD officer that looks gorgeous in a uniform and just catches Joey’s eye whenever he is around. Sam seems to like him a lot, but Joey would be an idiot to let Sam tempt him. Joey has secrets to hide and he needs to be careful. His heart wants Sam, but his brain is telling him to stop before it is too late. Can Joey keep his heart out of Sam’s reach or will Sam get his way?
M. Tasia lives up to my expectations every time I pick up one of her books and I am reminded why I love her stories so much. I absolutely loved Joey; he is a little rough around the edges, he is quirky and he is simply awesome. I loved his dialogues, his reactions and how he tried to avoid Sam. The situations were hilarious and so relatable. I enjoyed how Sam tried to peel away Joey’s layers one step at a time and didn’t try to overwhelm him. They tempted each other, they made the other crave them and I just lived for the mutual pining. The plot of Joey was incredible, the story was great, all the characters were wonderfully developed and even the cover art is gorgeous. This is perfect!
