Keeper of the Lost Flame is the second novel in The Legend of Little Square series by Rose M. Delorane. Lit Square’s journey continues as he becomes more deeply entangled in a world of magic, danger, and hidden legacies. No longer the awkward boy who left his home behind, Lit is tougher, sharper, and driven by the mysteries of his bloodline. His search leads him to Mountainview, a quiet mountain town with dark secrets buried beneath its exterior charm. At the heart of it is Greta, who runs Merry’s Tavern. The growing bond between them complicates everything. When Lit begins unraveling the mystery of an ancient artifact and the eerie Cemetery of Eternal Sorrow, he discovers that the supernatural threat lurking in Mountainview is tied directly to his own past and that something vindictive has been waiting for him all along. Lit has his hands full. Can he make it out of this predicament alive?
Author Rose M. Delorane has created a believable world where magic and the supernatural are real. Although I haven’t read the first novel in the series, I easily fell in love with Lit and was rooting for him. He is a strong, layered protagonist. His growth is evident, and his emotional scars add depth to his character. I loved how his interactions with Greta felt genuine and fun! She grounds Lit, balances his emotions with her stability, and makes things much more entertaining. I looked forward to her appearances because the pace of the story increased and became more exciting. The atmosphere in Mountainview is vivid. It blends small-town charm with an underlying sense of dread and the supernatural. The story is intriguing and made me want to read the first novel in the series after finishing this one. Keeper of the Lost Flame is a fantastic story that had me hooked until the end. It is highly recommended!
