Kitty and Doggie are best friends. They’re both excited about Christmas. When Santa’s sleigh lands outside their home, they hop in. Not wanting to interrupt Santa’s important job of handing out gifts to children around the world, Kitty and Doggie hide amongst the presents and enjoy flying with Santa ... until Kitty suddenly sneezes and Santa discovers the two hiding in his sleigh. Santa wasn’t cross with them. In fact, he was quite cheerful, as one would expect of Santa, and he gave them a ride home and a huge gift each. I wonder what he gave them.
Tetiana Hadomska’s picture book story, Kitty and Doggie’s Adventures: Christmas, is a sweet story about a cat and a dog who are best friends. The excitement of Christmas and Santa’s visit has the two curious to see how special Santa’s job is and why it’s important to give, to share, and to be kind to one another. The plot develops with building excitement, especially when Santa appears. The language is simple, so young readers can improve their reading skills as they enjoy this seasonal treasure. The colorful illustrations are delightful and help move the story along. It’s a magical time of the year and young readers will enjoy following Kitty and Doggie’s journey with Santa. Perhaps they’ll want to join the cat and dog in a sleigh ride with Santa on Christmas Eve. Kitty and Doggie learn a valuable lesson after their sleigh ride with Santa: they learn how to be kind and giving. A charming story.
