Author Joyce M. Carter, M.D., takes the reader into her thoughts and life's experiences, advising one to not dwell on the negative and past, but rather to look with a positive attitude toward the present and the future. Let Me Give You A Peace of My Mind is a fun read that deals with the struggles of life, yet pushes one to focus on the good rather than the bad. This book challenges the reader to improve their life and what they do with it because we only live once and what we do not only impacts on us but on others around us as well. There are delightful stories within the book that deal with men, health, responsibilities, children, race, carelessness, and so much more.
Author Carter is also a Forensic Pathologist and Consultant. Her experience in the forensic field helps one to better understand that careless mistakes and not taking care of one's health could cause one to appear before her sooner than necessary. Many deaths could be avoided with better driving skills, anger management, healthier lifestyle choices, etc. However, most people want to live their life the way they desire without any thought of the negative consequences that could come their way. Ms. Carter takes the reader into her life and exposes her thoughts and opinions to better help the reader become a stronger, healthier individual. While this book isn't very long, it does provide the impact that I believe the author is trying to achieve. It made me stop and think about what I do, why I do it, and what adjustments I may need to consider making within my life to enjoy a longer, more fruitful experience.
