Life in the Chastity Zone, by Holly Brandon, is a leisurely novel about a modern woman named Chastity, and how she navigates romance in today's society. This is as she tries to figure out who she is and what (or who) she really wants--always at war with the romantic ideal she's learned from tradition and pop culture, and what she encounters in real life. It isn't the average romance or self-discovery story; it's broad and inclusive, with a brazen sense of humor, and capturing characters that almost any of us can see ourselves in, or know in our daily lives--pretentious, humble, and those in between. This is a book that moves along at a breezy pace and can be consumed in one long day or night. You'll find lots of little surprises in the read, like email exchanges, lists, and more.

Holly Brandon has a classy, smart style to her writing and a gift for fashioning a large cast of characters that you can actually care about and keep up with. Her dialogue is revealing and interesting, and you feel like you're one of the characters eavesdropping on conversations at a party or restaurant. What is surprising and refreshing is that Brandon doesn't take her characters in predictable directions. She allows the characters to choose their own paths, and the outcomes are honestly earned. Another appealing aspect of her writing is her rich descriptions of settings and situations--replete with detail. You can almost see or feel the clothing or furniture she describes. Life in the Chastity Zone is a story I could easily see as a Netflix series or situation comedy. This is one story I truly wish hadn't ended when it did or where it did, so I'm curious to find out what happens in the next book of the series.

Life in the Chastity Zone is a work of fiction in the romantic slice of life genre; it is aimed at adults and was written by author Holly Brandon. The novel follows the ups and downs in the love life of Chase Morgan, who is pursuing the idealized version of her life that she dreamed of as a child. But life rarely follows the neat plans of those living it, and after being jilted by her first real love, Chase must decide whether or not to embrace the chaotic nature of modern dating or try to pursue her perfect life plan. What results is a charming drama with some poignant messages about life choices.

Author Holly Brandon has penned a superb work with real emotional depth, and one which manages to discuss important social issues like chastity at a later age and the goals we have for ourselves in life. In a truly unusual and different kind of romance novel, we can root for Chase thanks to the close narration of the author and the insightful work put into her thought and speech presentation. Through Chase’s eyes, we are transported into the world as she sees it, which makes for a truly immersive and special reading experience. What follows is an incredible story of determination, the strength of moving on, and a heartfelt slice of life about the modern world of dating and its many pitfalls. Overall, I would highly recommend Life in the Chastity Zone to clean romance fans looking for something unique by an accomplished writer.

Life in the Chastity Zone by Holly Brandon is a gentle, fun romp through the world of modern dating manners and relationship woes. Chastity (Chase) Morgan is a thirty-year-old virgin, preparing for the day she’s spent her entire life dreaming of – her marriage to her “soul partner”, Grant. When Grant arrives for a party, he brings devastating news for Chase; he is just back from Vegas where he got married – to somebody else. Chase’s other dream of following in the footsteps of her grandfather and father to become a structural engineer is also in tatters after a tragedy two years earlier. Chase had given up her doctoral thesis in structural engineering after having her thesis criticized by one of her professors. After the latest catastrophe to strike her life, Chase, with the help of her best friend and cousin, Roxie, sets out on a journey to put her shattered life back together and to find that most elusive of all things; her “dream husband”. What follows is a journey of self-discovery that is fraught with emotional highs and lows but is never boring.

Life in the Chastity Zone is essentially a modern-day take on an old favorite theme – a discussion of relationship manners. In the two principal characters, Chase and Roxie, author Holly Brandon has drawn two almost polar opposites that play off each other wonderfully. The highlight for me in this story is the clever, witty and often pithy interplay of the dialogue between these two. In many ways, Roxie is everything Chase is not and yet secretly wishes she would or could be. The tragedy that dogs Chase’s past and dictates much of her current predicament and thinking is hinted at and kept under wraps for much of the story, which only served to highlight the reader’s need and desire to understand it, so as to better understand Roxie’s motivations. This delayed gratification was a clever tool. Roxie is an easy character to empathize with but equally, as a reader, there were times when you just wanted to grab the girl by the shoulders, shake her and tell her to “get with the program”. Chase’s expectations always seemed higher than reality but her beauty as a character was that she wasn’t prepared to settle for less or for anything other than her “perfect husband” and “perfect degree”. Although I'm not a great fan of cliffhanger endings, this device does ensure that more adventures lie in store for Chase, her author, and her readers. A thoroughly amusing and satisfying read that I can definitely recommend.

Life in the Chastity Zone by Holly Brandon introduces the reader to Chastity Morgan, a woman who has always dreamed of a certain kind of life. Chastity wants it all, the career, the family, all of it just so. She has kept true to her name and nickname of Chase by being chaste her whole life, waiting for Mr. Right. Her career is going great, but dating not so much until Grant Stevens appears. Everything seems to be going according to plan for the perfect life, but then everything jumps off the track. Can Chase still find a way to have it all?

I dove into this book headfirst. I admit to the guilty pleasure of enjoying books with heroines who want that fairy tale life. It usually ends up very interesting, because life never ever goes according to anyone’s plan. Holly Brandon has done a fantastic job of writing a story that will pull the reader in. Chase could be your best friend. She is smart, funny, and likable. Sure, in this day and age being chaste is a quirk but it is a loveable one. I wanted to throttle Grant for what he did to Chase, that is how connected my feelings got for the character. Bringing a medium into a story like this can risk becoming over the top cheesy, but I found, in this case, it was done just right. A good spur to push Chase into making choices about her life, into personal development.

Every one of us, whether a virgin or not, has had a relationship change our lives. We have had that moment where we wonder if what we saw for our life was right, or if we were terribly wrong. So, what happens with Chasity? Well, I am not going to spoil the book for you. Trust me, pick this one up and enjoy; you won’t be able to set it down.

Life in the Chastity Zone by Holly Brandon is a spunky romance about a witty, thirty-year-old engineer named Chastity Ann Morgan (Chase). Everything seems to be going great in her fairytale-ish life until out of nowhere, she’s suddenly blindsided by a text from her fiancé of six months, Grant Stevens, that he wants to take a break. After the shock of being ghosted by someone she saved her virginity for, the shocks have only just begun in this hilariously-told tale. On top of being blindsided, not only is Mr. Perfect planning on marrying another, he actually wants to remain ‘best friends’! Chase doesn’t know how much more she can take but knows she must get through this somehow. Through it all, Chase is determined to have it all; career, adventure, and that mind-blowing romance that makes everything she’s gone through and waited for worth every second. But is it possible that the fairytale ending she envisioned for her life doesn’t even exist?

Life in the Chasity Zone by Holly Brandon is full of modern-day humor, loveable, laughable characters, and realistic relationships that everyone at one time or another can most certainly relate to. I found myself laughing out loud at the descriptions and inner thoughts of the characters and couldn’t wait to find out what happened next and how it would all end. Holly Brandon doesn’t disappoint and the pages are full of sassy, colorful dialogue and snippets of vulnerable truths about how things really are in life and in the world of dating. All in all, a fun, sweet read all wrapped into one book. Five stars!
