Barbara Ann Mojica brings history to life in her book, Little Miss HISTORY Travels to INTREPID Sea, Air and Space Museum. With colorful images and full-color photographs, Mojica explores what you can discover about the famous Intrepid, now that it is a museum in New York City. The book is easy to read, but it is filled with fascinating facts and information about the “once mighty warship”. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about United States history, naval history and more. For those who cannot travel to New York to visit the Intrepid in person, they can dive into the book to explore the images and facts. The simplicity of how Barbara Ann Mojica shares the information makes it easy to go back and pick out different pieces to research further.

Little Miss HISTORY Travels to INTREPID Sea, Air and Space Museum is an excellent resource to use just as a fun addition to your child’s reading library or it would also be a great tool to implement into one’s homeschooling or traditional school projects. Even more exciting is the realization that Little Miss HISTORY is a series, so there are other books to explore and historical places to learn about alongside Little Miss History. Barbara Ann Mojica is creating a wonderful series to share with your children and to revisit historical information that you may not have known or you may not recall. Little Miss HISTORY Travels to INTREPID Sea, Air and Space Museum is not a book to read through quickly and stick on a shelf. Instead, this is a book and a series to return to time and again.

History visits the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum was fun, fast paced and factual. I knew I'd learn about the ship's history, but I had no idea how much history this particular ship holds. Reading about the Intrepid's past was exciting to say the very least. Some of her noteworthy captain's were discussed, as well as her valiant crew. This is an excellent book any time of the year. However, if you are looking for books to celebrate the U.S. military or space exploration for patriotic holidays, then definitely buy this one.

I received a PDF copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Little Miss History Travels to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is the newest addition to Barbara Ann Mojica’s most excellent history series for young people. It’s beautifully dedicated to military personnel, including veterans and those killed in war. USS Intrepid was originally built for WWII and used in the largest battle in US naval history. The Intrepid was adapted for many different uses during its sea-going span, even working for NASA. The Intrepid Museum is built around and through the old ship, which is located in New York City; the interactive displays would appeal to all ages! The book blends historical photographs with modern drawings for an engaging, educational read. Great for children, and this museum really should stock it as well!

I was gifted a copy of Little Miss History Travels to Intrepid for an honest review. I have read other books before by Barbara Ann Mojica and as a teacher have seen the value and endless teaching opportunities in her books. Here in the Intrepid story Little Miss History is traveling to the battleship, Intrepid, which is now a sea, air and space museum. It tells the history of the Intrepid ship with bright vivid pictures, actual photos of her many journeys with battles during WW2 and other ventures. I had not heard of this ship before, or the fact that it is now a famous museum. Children here get a great opportunity to learn something many don’t know, or may never get the chance to. The text is very clearly written and is a smooth read.
Students can take a field trip to the Intrepid Museum without even leaving the classroom. I highly recommend this book and hope to see Little Miss History taking us on more

Little Miss History Intrepid is a fun read. Finally, someone has written a children's book about a military ship and the Intrepid is a great pick. The charm of little miss' mannerisms mixed together with a good dose of history makes for a great bed time story. I like the photographs of the inside of the sub aboard the ship. I think the pictures give a realistic view of what it's like to visit the impressive ship. My daughters love the series and should love this book too!

Trying to introduce history to a young child can be tough, but not for this talented team. Barbara Mojica, a wonderful writer and history educator, and her husband, a creative and outstanding artist, Victor Mojica, did a terrific job in their new children’s book, Little Miss HISTORY Travels to INTREPID Sea, Air & Space Museum. By combining a strong visual content with a good story, they again showed young readers important events from American history that educate and entertain at the same time. Combining photography with art, Victor Mojica takes children onto the battleship, where they can clearly envision what it might be like to live on the ship during war and what its legacy means for us.

Each page is full of history that leads to discovering even more about this significant American landmark. The facts about this legendary battleship are fascinating, especially the information about its captain, who spent his own fortune to make it a museum, so generation after generation could learn about its heroic legacy and honor the heroes who fought for our freedom.

In addition, this book is an excellent tool to augment children’s education. A child can pick it up and find out a little, or sit down and peruse it for hours. The authors presented great events in a manner that will capture young minds and captivate their imagination from the beginning. This book is a superb vehicle for providing important knowledge that will pique the reader's exploration of a subject in greater depth. It definitely has a place as both a reference book and a good browsing book.

In their history series, Barbara and Victor Mojica have done a masterful job of selecting and summarizing historical, anthropological, and cultural aspects that continue to influence American culture until this day. The artwork in their books provides a visual feast for the eyes. Colors are vivid and enhance the book's appeal. Authors have not "dumbed down” the history material either. Their “Little Miss History” provides plenty of information and facts about the history of important events, people, and landmarks.

Little Miss HISTORY Travels to INTREPID Sea, Air & Space Museum is the “must-have book” for parents who have kids in school, teachers and educators, or for anyone who loves or has any interest in history. It provides a good starting point from which any child can explore the legendary American landmarks. This book would make an excellent addition to a family library or be a great gift for a young reader. Most importantly, it is fun to read and learn about historical events that are beautifully highlighted throughout the book.

No passport is necessary to explore this series. They’re exceptional children’s books, specially created for your little ones to learn about the American heritage!

Another fabulous book in the Little Miss History series by Barbara Ann Mojica! INTREPID is filled with rich history, the actual names of men, with their illustrations, who gave their lives to this vessel, men who used it to to explore and recover and fight for our freedom – every one of them who helped change history, and men we may not have even known before. Every bit of this important history should be known by all of us, as well as the history contained within this imaginative historical book -- child and adult alike!
The rich and real illustrations shine and Little Miss History is as dauntless as ever, as she takes us on this amazing historical journey of the ship INTREPID, with her sass and gusto. Pretty smart gal!
I continue to believe that Little Miss History would make a wonderful animated series for kids and adults alike making history sing and come alive for us all!
Definitely 5 star reading!

INTREPID is a fine new addition to the author's Little Miss HISTORY collection. Mojica does a fantastic job introducing kids and grownups to the sites and sounds of the American story. Step aboard the INTREPID warship for a tour of history by land, sea and air. Illustrations are engaging, historical photos are fantastic and you'll learn about heroes both renowned and obscure. I'm delighted to see the Little Miss HISTORY collection keeps growing and highly recommend it to classrooms and libraries as a wonderful resource for telling America's story. ~ Bette A. I always learn something new and surprising when I read one of Barbara Ann Mojica's nonfiction picture books. Although they are written for children, adults will find them interesting as well.

Mojica illustrates her books with a clever combination of photographs and drawings. Her character, little Miss History, is confident and adventurous. The hand drawn figures blend seamlessly with color and black and white photographs creating both a sense of history and immediacy.

In this book, she explores the history of the Naval ship the Intrepid. The Intrepid was not just a warship, although it excelled at that. Readers will learn of its various roles over the years, even during the crisis of September 11, 2001. I would never have considered visiting this museum, but after reading this book, my views have changed.

Mojica gives tribute to those who served on this great ship, drawing attention to the previously overlooked courage and skill of the 23 African-American sailors who fought during the World War II. This book is sure to inspire interest in history and pride in this strong symbol of American strength and daring.

Oh my! I love author Barbara Ann Mojica’s books! She has coined a very unique style for telling and teaching children, AND adults alike, about history. Mojica makes learning historical facts such fun. From the front cover design to the main character, whose name is History, Mojica ensures the learning of Intrepid with guaranteed fascination.

I really enjoyed the timeline approach given in this storyline. From the time Intrepid was commissioned to serve in World War II in year 1943 to her last role in 2001 serving as headquarters for FBI agents investigating the World Trade Center terrorist attack, was most intriguing.

The rich illustrations presented from page-to-page makes the journey of Intrepid even more captivating as the reader is given a first-hand glance of what it looks like on board of Intrepid.

I hope children, History teachers, parents, and history buffs all over are reading Mojica’s books. If you are looking for a fun way for children to learn historical facts in entertaining ways, look up Barbara Ann Mojica’s books. You will be very pleased!

I want to read all of Mojica’s books. I can’t wait for the next stop -- Ellis Island.

Little Miss History is taking us through the history of the aircraft carrier Intrepid. The main points of its long life are presented in easy to understand combinations of pictures and cartoons. This is surely an entertaining way to digest history and keep the interest. The books of this series may very well suggest further in depth studies of the subjects. I recommend the series for the use in both school and private environments. Well done!

In “Little Miss HISTORY Travels to INTREPID Sea, Air & Space Museum” Author Mojica’s ‘Miss HISTORY’ introduces kids to some of America’s military conflicts through the telling of the illustrious past of the USS INTREPID. The famous attack carrier, which was first commissioned in August of 1943, took part in the fighting during World War II, the Vietnam War, and even in the years of the Cold War. Fascinating facts about US naval history, the men who served aboard and the INTREPID’s role after the 9/11 attacks in New York City are sure to captivate young readers’ interest and stimulate a quest for more.

Happily, as in the previous four volumes of ‘Miss HISTORY’, illustrator Victor Ramon Mojica wielded his magic and combined photography and drawings to create an extraordinary canvas for the author’s text. Great team work!

I highly and warmly recommend this book as well as the first four in the series.

Little Miss History takes us to visit Intrepid, a decommissioned naval carrier that now serves as a sea, air, and space museum in New York City. The author gives the reader the important facts of the carrier's history. We're given a tour of the museum and with photographs, get a real sense of the mighty warship. The illustrator uses photography and clever illustrations to capture the essence of Intrepid's remarkable history.

I'm a real fan of the Little Miss History books, and author Barbara Ann Monica has produced yet another fine book to add to the collection. This one is especially likely to appeal to all the many youngsters out there who love boats, planes and submarines - they will lap up a good helping of history without even realising it!

Combining real photographs with complementary illustrations, this book gives a colourful portrayal of the history of the famous Intrepid aircraft carrier, as well as showing the exciting exhibitions that this museum ship now holds. The fact that kids can touch and interact with these exhibits, as well as find out lots about U.S. naval history from them, is sure to get kids who live anywhere near New York clamouring for a visit.

For those of us who live further afield, Little Miss History does a splendid job at allowing us an interesting virtual tour of the museum, interacting with many of the exhibits on our behalf.

I especially like that Little Miss History even finds a moment to mention past racial wrongs being righted in modern times, with one young black sailor receiving the Navy Cross 50 years after his outstanding display of bravery during WW2.

A great read for reluctant young historians, and also a great book to either anticipate or remember a visit to this wonderful museum. I know that if I'm ever in New York then this ship will now be on my tick list of places to see. I hope the Intrepid gift shop are stocking this gem.
