Little Red Car and Big Machines by Olesia Klochkova is a children’s picture book that tells the story of a little car who goes on a journey to get acquainted with big working machines. First, it meets a tractor working on a farm and learns what it does. Little Red Car then comes across an excavator, a concrete mixer, a road paver, and a crane. All of them provide a brief description of their roles. The little car learns about each one's function with delight and acknowledges the importance of each of the machines and their unique role. Little Red Car returns home happy and content, excited to tell friends about what it has learned. There is an activity at the end where young readers connect the vehicles to their shadows.
Olesia Klochkova’s Little Red Car and Big Machines is a fun and educational book. It introduces children to several working machines that they are likely to find around themselves. They might be curious about what these are and what they do; in this work, Olesia addresses both questions. The book also shows that each member has a unique role to play in the progress of society, and all of them deserve to be appreciated for their contributions. Toward the end of the story, Olesia points out the joy of sharing knowledge with others. The illustrations are bright and colorful, which makes them captivating for the target audience. Little Red Car and Big Machines is recommended for children aged four to six.
