What’s a birthday? Why do we celebrate it? Who do we invite and expect to remember us on our special day? Are they happy for us? Did we live a good life? What about the future? Are we confident in it? London Baby Birthday: What Gifts Day Gives by Lande Jewels answers your questions in ten unique poems. In simple rhyme, each poem tells a story of every birthday we may have in the future. We ponder with thoughts and expectations, hopes and dreams, wants and needs. It just may all come true in twenty-four hours with a simple wish.
Lande Jewels is incredible in choosing the right words that show the most emotion. I saw myself in every word. They are moments of life anyone can relate to. I never knew the origins of making a wish before. Like all other people as to why we perform certain rituals or customs, I never looked deeper. I loved how London Baby Birthday: What Gifts Day Gives doesn’t shy away from explaining the facts. It gave me some things to reflect on as a person and showed me how valuable time and life are. In one poem my taste buds were stirred up. The descriptions of birthday cake were enough to whet my appetite. Yummy! Before every poem, Lande puts a beautiful picture. They look like pieces of a person’s soul. I say that because it looks like reality and a painting. What a beautiful way to depict true happiness!
