Lots of Love and a Little Nonsense by Lyn Kulow is a whimsical and colorful series of mini-adventures told through verse in the style of nursery rhymes. These delightful rhymes promote a child’s imagination, their understanding of love, and spark them to find genuine happiness through little journeys. Each of the rhymes takes children outdoors and to unexpected places from talking to colorful bugs to riding a buffalo through amazing plains. Each of these adventures will show children how to find the wonder and imagination in everyday occurrences. Kulow takes ordinary events such as tucking into bed or falling asleep or even rainy days and twists them into exciting adventures.
The illustrations are sweet and fit the theme of nursery rhymes with adorable characters that have round shapes, whimsical attire, soft colors, and adorable appearances. Children will enjoy seeing these characters - a bat with a tie and hat hanging upside down, a butterfly with a scarf and glasses, and several other lively sorts. Lyn Kulow delivers a variety of delightful rhymes throughout that offer little stories and unique adventures to open children’s imaginations and provide whimsical fun that every parent will love to share with their children. A couple of the rhymes are simpler than others with a sweet one that parents will love for their infants which talks about tickling toes and belly. All the rhymes are playful with some that take the form of the journey, whether it’s to see buildings and vast plains or to fly kites, and some that teach simple lessons such as how to be gentle to a kitty cat.
Each of these rhymes is ideal for bedtime, will help encourage young imaginations and are easy to remember so the various lessons provided will stay with youngsters. Kulow makes the dreariness of rainy days a grand idea and the perfect time to play in puddles but also warns that when there’s thunder, it’s a day to play inside. Lots of Love and a Little Nonsense is a highly recommended series of nursery rhymes with a rhyme scheme that will make you smile. Little verses will make children giggle and help them to gain a better comprehension of love.
