Losing someone you love is always a traumatic event, and learning how to deal with it is not an easy process. People can choose many ways to cope with suffering, but they always need time to recover. In Love Interrupted, Michele Matto recalls her reaction to this situation. After the sudden passing of her soulmate, Jennifer “Jenny” Young, Matto began her journey to understand the afterlife. Starting with the recollections of how she dealt with her loss, Matto broadens the subject to more general considerations. Her book is not only a personal account, but it includes advice for other people, to help them better understand life and the afterlife.
Love Interrupted is a book in which you will find fond memories, deep thoughts, and images. The first thing that will strike you is its exceptional design. You will have no doubt that the author did a painstaking job to present her story in a remarkable way. This aspect is just one of many that reveal how personal this book is to Matto. She uses a conversational tone as if she is talking to a friend when she recalls and considers her sad experience. It takes a lot of courage to discuss this kind of event, but Matto has been able to do it with considerable grace and insight. Her reflections about the afterlife reveal not only her struggle, but they can help others to find the answers they seek. I also like the many images included in Love Interrupted. They help you connect more deeply with the author and make her story even more significant.
