Author Biography

Lydia Sherrer is an indie author whose goal is to leave the world a better place than when she found it. Growing up in rural Kentucky, she was thoroughly corrupted by a deep love for its particular brand of rolling countryside, despite all the mosquitoes and hay-fever. She was instilled with a craving for literature early on, and her parents had to wrestle books away from her at the dinner table. Though she graduated with a dual B.A. in Chinese and Arabic, having traveled the world she came home and decided to stay there. She currently resides in Louisville, KY with her loving and supportive husband, and their very vocal cat.

Love, Lies, and Hocus Pocus is the second instalment in The Lily Singer Adventures series by Lydia Sherrer. After discovering a clay artefact in the school’s hidden basement, Lily takes the artefact home to investigate it further, only to wind up with her cat, Sir Edgar Allan Kipling, being able to communicate with her telepathically the following morning. With news spreading of a heist of the museum in its planning stages, Lily and Sebastian team up to try to discover who is behind the planned theft of the Tablet of Eridu from the museum. High on the suspect list is Tina, a young witch who seems to be spending every single day at the museum. Lily receives a mysterious letter, advising that the answers that she has been looking for about her past lie with the sender. With a dinner invitation extended to Lily, she knows that the only way to discover if the letter’s contents are true is to accept... consequences and all.

I never thought it possible to find a book more enjoyable than the first instalment of Love, Lies and Hocus Pocus, but Lydia Sherrer has really outdone herself, presenting one crazy adventure after the next in the sequel. Sir Kipling’s ability to communicate with humans left me laughing out loud in many places. With the mystery deepening on each page, I found myself unable to stop reading until the very end. Lydia Sherrer has captured the love and family connection between human and feline perfectly. This is a book that will not only be enjoyed by those who love a dose of mystery, magic and humor, but also by cat lovers everywhere.
