Dania Voss explores the romance between Olivia Wilson and Sergio Martinez in Lovers and Lace, the first book in the Delcinia Diaries Series. In 2013, Olivia, fresh off her family's dairy farm, moved smoothly into a career as an international model. Far from relying on lingerie modeling as her ultimate goal, she decided to pursue an MBA and integrate her fashion ideas into the industry. Just before her first appearance on the Delcinia runway, she meets Sergio, a wealthy, attractive man, who is twelve years her senior and exudes confidence. They fall for each other quickly, but Sergio's father drives a wedge between them that tears them apart. Years later, Sergio acquires Delcinia and hopes to rekindle his relationship with Olivia, but Olivia remembers her heartbreak too well to let him in so easily.
With her keen business sense and lingerie in varying shades of purple, Olivia is a beauty that can capture anyone's attention. Dania Voss maintains strength in her female characters, not only building her protagonist but extending positivity to all the women in her story. Without outright stating it, the dialog captures common insecurities and encourages women to feel beautiful. Readers receive intimate insights as the story shifts between Olivia's and Sergio's perspectives. I loved the ability to see the story from a male and female point of view, and it heats up the steamy scenes to know the thoughts of both sexes as they discover things to drive each other wild. Lovers and Lace is a good selection for readers who enjoy second-chance romances with an age gap and seemingly insurmountable familial obstacles.
