Love's Gentle Rain is a contemporary romance novella by O.J. Ebubeoha. Amara Okonkwo was supposed to be married to her fiancé, Josh, and living happily with their child in Abuja, Nigeria. However, fate had other plans, and now, Josh and their unborn child are dead, while Amara has to face the brunt of his family's unfounded accusations and blame. Two years after Josh's passing, Amara is about to go to a job interview when she meets Chibuike, a young divorcé whose wife left him and disappeared with their six-month-old son. Chibuike has recently returned from Canada and, upon meeting Amara, strikes up an unexpected bond with her over their shared grief and loss that soon transforms into something more. What's next in store for Amara and Chibuike?

Love's Gentle Rain is a story about letting go of the past and opening oneself up to love and hope. I found the book a breeze to read, mainly because of author O.J. Ebubeoha's masterful handling of the narrative with a fast-paced plot and likable characters who keep you engaged all the way through. It's a character-driven narrative, and the author ensures readers get to know the backstories of each of the two main protagonists. It makes the reader care for the characters and sympathize with their plight. I also liked how both Amara and Chibuike come from different backgrounds and have dreams of their own, yet find common ground to bond over their respective tragedies. The ending is full of hope, and for that, I'm very grateful. Recommended to contemporary romance readers!
