Mama Can't Moo is an early reader Christian picture book by Tonya T. Strickland. The theme of the story revolves around Christian values, but specifically, it centers around a chapter in the Bible's Book of Proverbs. From Proverbs 31:26: "She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue." When you first dive into this children's book, you will get what you expect: adorable animals and a lot of simple rhyming. Of course, if you are a Christian, you will realize it is a little more special than your average picture book full of animal sounds.

Mama Can't Moo by Tonya T. Strickland is meant for toddlers and preschool-aged children. It is a beginner book for those just starting to learn their vowels and sounding out short words. It is a quick read, a sweet little book filled with cute and colorful animal illustrations. It is a remarkable gift for Christian parents who wish to expand their child's library with more Christian-focused books. How does any of this tie into Mama not being able to moo? The author writes, "A special voice God gives to each, and we delight to hear their speech." The word "each" refers to all the different animals who "speak" their languages through their sounds. Just like the individual animals in the book, mothers have their language. Despite its simple prose, the message is wholesome and clear: mothers should speak with love and kindness.
