On September 4, 2008, she was caught in the middle of her daughter's domestic dispute and was shot by her daughter's boyfriend. She survived the ordeal and from that ordeal, she was inspired to write poems. She knew she had a gift. Her gift didn’t become a reality until that fateful day when she almost lost her life.

From that ordeal, she made use of her gift. God used her gift to heal her wounded soul. He gave her a voice to speak. Now she uses the gift He gave her to tell of His goodness. What she thought was a curse has turned into a blessing. What the devil meant for bad, God meant it for good." - Genesis 50:20

Mama Said... Wisdom From The Heart by Ms Carolyn Marie Ellison is an interesting book written to create a link between parents and children. The valuable lessons learned can be passed from generation to generation and the author says that reading this book will strengthen, solidify, and salvage broken links in relationships with parents and guardians. It is also helpful in teaching one to be grateful, unlocking painful memories, and experiencing joy. It works in different ways for different people, but there is something in the book for everyone and, at the end of it, readers will feel as if they have achieved the peace and joy that only the divine can give.

I found the book uplifting and inspirational. The experiences shared in the book make it more tangible and relatable to readers. There is a lot in the book to ponder and reflect on, and the pearls of wisdom will help young readers to understand their parents better and heed their wisdom at all times. The book has many tips to improve relationships, bonds, ties, and friendships, and will aid in making one strong and loving. The writing style is simple and neat and the fluidity of the words give a good pace to the book, making it an engaging read. There is a lot of insight in the author's words and they can be incorporated into one's life without much difficulty. It's a book that teaches one faith and patience when it comes to life and living.
