Mikey's Place by Steve Giddings is a remarkable children's book about a spirited but disheartened singing microphone named Mikey. He tries hard to fit into different musical roles and styles, but can't quite seem to find his niche. He begins to doubt himself and feels like he doesn't fit in anywhere. One day he meets a friendly guitar who sees a spark inside Mikey and invites him to visit his quartet band. Mikey is excited but nervous. What will they think about his singing ability? Will he finally find his place in music? You'll have to read this book to find out!

Mikey's Place is such an inspirational and encouraging story for children. Steve Giddings teaches them in a way they can understand and relate to the value of embracing your unique style and staying true to yourself. Mikey's Place is the perfect title in that it illustrates where you feel the most comfortable in life, both in the setting and who you surround yourself with. I liked the distinctive and natural illustrations in this book and how they highlight the characters' unique personalities and interactions with each other. I think it's wonderful how they are all so authentic, relatable, and kind to one another. I also enjoyed the humor and entertainment in the story, which I'm sure all children will appreciate. I highly recommend this book to children of all backgrounds, ages 5 to 8. They will feel a special connection with this book and it will give them the courage to be their own unique and special selves.

Mikey's Place by Steve Giddings is a heartwarming and educational picture book for young children. Mikey, the microphone, loves to sing his heart out, but he can't help but feel out of place. He tries to find a way of fitting in and, along the way, he bumps into a guitar. The guitar introduces itself and offers to take Mikey to where his band plays. Mikey is nervous but begins to feel hopeful as he meets other musical instruments. With the band complete, they're ready to play. Will Mikey finally find his place?

Mikey's Place is an enjoyable read. From start to finish, author Steve Giddings uses rhyming verses to tell the story of the main character Mikey. This will grab the attention of young readers and will enable them to follow along in a fun and easy way. Not only is the book highly entertaining, but it also has educational aspects to it. It teaches the importance of feeling accepted, and how negative thoughts can cloud someone's mind when they don't feel that way. Children will learn that no one is perfect and that sometimes all you need is a little help from some friends. The illustrations, also by the author, are colorful, creative, and eye-catching; children are going to love them! I'd highly recommend this book to any child feeling a little lost and in need of a pick-me-up. Keep up the great work, Steve. I look forward to reading more from you soon.

Mikey, the microphone, loves to sing, but he has a problem; he does not quite know where he fits in. He tried, which made him sad because there was terrible feedback with the microphone band, and opera was just not a good fit. He did not know where to search, so he went for a stroll. On his stroll, he meets a guitar who invites Mikey to meet his bandmates. The band has a bass guitar, drum set, keyboard, and a fox on voice. As each member of the band introduces themselves, they explain what they do in the band, conveying some music theory information during the process. Does Mikey find his place in the band, or will he continue searching? Mikey's Place by Steve Giddings is an engaging children's book that will introduce the young reader to various musical instruments and the basics of music.

Mikey's Place by Steve Giddings is an interactive children's book teaching young readers about finding their place in the world while teaching them about music and various instruments. The illustrations are vibrant and active and complement the narrative perfectly. The book is written in three-line rhyme and links well with the musical theme of the book.
