Author Biography

R.S. Prinzo resides in the City of Kawartha Lakes, Canada and is a mother, homeopath and author of her first children’s picture book entitled "Millie and Marty Muldoon Miss Out." Upon receiving an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto, she spent 26 years employed as a research scientist with a Fortune 500 healthcare company, where she authored several, internationally recognized scientific publications. Her interest in childhood education combined with her vast experience in scientific research, led her to discover how crucial critical thinking skills are for a child’s development, which, unfortunately, are not usually embedded as thoroughly as they should be into teaching practices. As a result, her writing uniquely combines principles of critical thinking along with themes of curiosity, family dynamics and understanding daily life’s simple pleasures in an investigative and fun manner. When she is not writing stories to help children become better thinkers, she enjoys reading, traveling with her family, baking with too much sampling and playing board games with her children where she usually suffers a humiliating defeat.

Millie & Marty Muldoon Miss Out by R.S. Prinzo is a fun book with stunning illustrations by Sathomi Ekanayake. This is a lovely story that will have kids giggling – no doubt they will see something of themselves in Millie and Marty! The story illustrates the natural curiosity that most children have and also their innate feelings that they are missing out on things when they aren’t there. While this is a humorous tale, it’s also educational, teaching children about critical thinking, family dynamics, and how to question what they see around them. The illustrations are amazing and help bring the story to life. As this author’s first children’s book, it’s a wonderful story that kids everywhere will love. There are also some helpful questions at the end of the book to help children test their understanding of what they read – a great way to help them concentrate on the story and take it all in. A highly enjoyable book. I am looking forward to more from this author.

The last thing Millie and Marty Muldoon wanted to hear every night was that it was bedtime. They grumbled so much because they thought that after bedtime was when the real fun started. When they woke up the next morning, they seemed to find evidence that confirmed their suspicions. Since then, they were determined to stay up late and catch their parents in the very act of enjoyment. What would they find? Were they right? Find out in this intriguing children's book, Millie & Marty Muldoon Miss Out, written by R.S. Prinzo with beautiful illustrations by Sathomi Ekayanake. This book tells the story of two mischievous children who go on an adventure to prove that their parents always engage in fun activities after bedtime but are faced with a different reality.

The first thing I loved about this book is the strong family bond that the author portrays where children are free to express their feelings without fear or judgment. The writer also writes in such compelling yet simple language that makes the book difficult to put down until you are done reading. The illustrations are perfectly suited to the story and help to give a good mental image of what one is reading. Lastly, the lessons for children are enormous. Chief among them is the fact that things are not always as they seem and that, as young children, our parents always have our best interests at heart, so it's good to be obedient. Children between the ages of 4 and 6 will find Millie & Marty Muldoon Miss Out a delight to read.
