Miracles of the Season by Susan Jean Ricci begins in NYC, where Chloe Twiggins reminisces about the life she used to have before meeting and marrying her husband. She’s late meeting him and their daughter, Lala, at the Rockefeller Center. One of his trees has been chosen as the Christmas tree there. Meanwhile, Dalia and Oliver Olson, two world-famous musicians, arrive in the city for what's meant to be their final holiday concert. While out on a walk back to her hotel, she collides with Chloe on the sidewalk. Even though the encounter doesn’t end well, fate keeps pushing the two women and their families together. The Twiggins decide to invite the Olsons, including their son, Andy, to spend the holidays at their farm. What follows is a story about unlikely friendships, healing, and the little miracles that happen when people open their hearts.
I enjoyed reading Miracles of the Season: Love For the Holidays by Susan Jean Ricci. Just when I thought I knew where the plot was headed, it surprised me in ways that kept me hooked until the very end. The writing is conversational and lively. Each character has a distinct voice. All the banter between the couples and the newly formed friendships had me smiling for most of the read. There's a nice balance of humor and heart. Tougher topics are handled gently with hope. I especially liked how the children, Lala and Andy, and the other family members, Fae and Josiah, were just as much part of the narrative. Fans of heartwarming holiday fiction will love this cozy but layered book. I highly recommend it.
