Mirror Image is the fourth book of The Mike Parsons Series by Malcolm Tanner. Excited to take his restaurant franchise nationwide, Paul Taylor is going back home after a celebratory party when he hits something with his car. Waking up hungover the following day, Paul is shocked to find a dead body in his car, mysteriously disappearing once he returns to his garage. Now, he is being blackmailed by an anonymous person. Paul takes his case to Mike Parsons and Andy Marx, who have recently opened their company, M&M Private Investigators. As Mike and Andy delve into the investigation, they uncover clues that point to a deeper conspiracy. While Mike's wife Katy is pregnant, Paul's wife Trisha behaves strangely. Will Mike and Andy be able to help Paul and get to the bottom of the mystery?
Mirror Image is a captivating sleuth caper with a unique twist. Unlike most detective tales, in this book, you learn the culprit's identity early in the story. The plot primarily revolves around how the protagonists solve the mystery. Author Malcolm Tanner throws some well-placed curveballs to keep you engaged while you try to guess what will happen next. The narrative is evenly paced, and Tanner's accessible writing style makes for a smooth reading experience. The characters sound as if they know each other, creating a believable atmosphere for the reader to become immersed in the story. I liked Mike and Andy's friendship and uncanny ability to solve cases together. Recommended to sleuth story lovers.
