Morgan's Landing by Linda Griffin is a gripping drama that follows the mysterious disappearance of Julie Morgan, a teenage girl from a picturesque, tight-knit community. The local police, led by Detective Jim Brady, work tirelessly to find leads in their search for Julie. They explore all possible scenarios, confront registered sex offenders, and glean clues from Julie's diary. As the investigation progresses, Jim has to confront the unsettling possibility that his fourteen-year-old son may be involved in Julie’s disappearance. His wife insists that their son has been acting strangely, which makes Jim question whether he should trust him. Despite keeping this concern to himself, as potential leads begin to dwindle, Jim starts to evaluate his son’s behavior. Could his wife's fears be justified, or are they simply a reflection of his fears?
Morgan's Landing is a thrilling and thought-provoking drama that explores the dark places our minds can go when faced with unimaginable situations. Linda Griffin skillfully introduces readers to Morgan's Landing, portraying it as a perfect community filled with ordinary residents. However, beneath this idyllic exterior lies a web of secrets. The revelation that the town harbors registered sex offenders, teachers with hidden lives, and dysfunctional families shatters its façade of safety and normalcy. The story also addresses societal judgment and the desperation that arises when a loved one goes missing, prompting readers to examine how much they can truly trust their families, friends, and neighbors. Despite tackling a tense subject, the book includes comedic moments that provide a lighthearted contrast to the serious themes. Overall, Morgan’s Landing is a compelling drama that keeps readers on the edge of their seats while prompting reflection on the fragile nature of trust within our closest relationships.
