Diana Thompson, engaged to Trent Sawyer, had some doubts about their upcoming marriage. Her friend Jenn invited her to her grandparents’ ranch in western North Carolina over the Thanksgiving weekend to give her time to sort out her feelings. Diana was the daughter of a wealthy Philadelphia family, and she had always lived up to her mother’s expectations. When Diana met Jenn’s cousin, Dillon McCoy, there was an immediate attraction between them. Dillon had been riding on the rodeo circuit and was going through a divorce. Both had relationship problems to work out. Dillon’s grandparents decided it was time to turn the ranch over to him, and soon many threatening attempts on his life occurred. In the contemporary romance novel, Mountain Blaze (The Carolina Series), written by Debby Grahl, there are many loving moments, as well as frightening ones.
The two main characters, Diana and Dillon, are complex, and the author reveals these complications in a clear manner. She weaves their past experiences, dealing with parental expectations and career choices, in their new relationship. Additionally, the other characters, from other cousins to ranch neighbors to the local sheriff, are intriguing, adding interesting entanglements – and the ranch even has a ghost. The interactions between the mysterious threats and the romance are well-balanced. A fast-paced tale, engaging the reader from the first page to the last. Author Debby Grahl has crafted a romantic novel with a mysterious twist in Mountain Blaze. A wonderful novel for those who like contemporary romance stories!
