My Christmas Darling: A Delightfully Uplifting Holiday Romance: A Snowdrop Valley Series Novel, Book 1 is a holiday-themed contemporary romantic comedy written by Vivien Mayfair. Lucy Carpenter loved Christmas; it was most definitely her favorite time of the year. As she walked the streets of Manhattan, she adored hearing the carols and seeing the decorations adorning every shop window. This Christmas, she needed two things to make the season complete -- an acceptance letter from one of the publishers she had submitted her book to and the agreement of her Grinch of a boss to allow his employees to decorate for the holidays. This last letter that she had just received was thick, which was a change from the usual slender rejection letters. Could it be the one acceptance she needed? She needed that book sold almost as much as she wanted to hold her very own masterpiece in her hands, published and in hard copy. She delayed opening the envelope just to keep hope alive for a few more moments.
My Christmas Darling deftly captures the magic of Christmas in New York City. Whatever one may think of Manhattan for the rest of the year, the Christmas season transforms every street and softens every hardened city denizen and secret Scrooge. Mayfair’s characters are credible and authentic, and the sparks which persist in flying between Lucy and her dishy, if uptight boss makes for some fun seasonal reading. I loved the book-within-a-book premise and found Lucy’s image of a town dedicated to books to be irresistible indeed. The plot is suitably strewn with pitfalls and the most hilarious of situations, making it hard to stop reading until the end. I had a grand time reading this book and found revisiting Christmas in the Big Apple to be most enjoyable. My Christmas Darling: A Delightfully Uplifting Holiday Romance is most highly recommended.
