My Day With Grandma by Reesa Shayne is about a little boy who loves it when his grandmother comes to visit or babysit him. When she’s over, there are so many things that they’ll be able to do. The boy loves having his grandma all to himself, which means playing all day long. Hide and Seek is a favorite pastime as well as reading a book and going for a walk, and playing with chalk. He knows that his grandma will make something great for lunch, and afterward, they can sing and dance. As much as he doesn’t want the day to end with his grandma, his best friend, his parents return, and she must go home. He’s sad, but he knows he’ll see her again soon.

I thought My Day With Grandma was a fun and adorable read. Many children will be able to relate to how nice it is when grandparents visit. As an adult reading this children’s book, it took me back to my childhood and the fond memories I have of my grandmother. It’s short but sweet and will definitely be a fun read for a young audience. The illustrations are also beautifully done and fit perfectly with the storyline. They add to the story and will catch children’s attention. I think Reesa Shayne has done a wonderful job with this book, and I look forward to reading more of her work.

Grandmas are so special. Little Noah loves spending time with his Grandma. An entire day can be spent going for walks, chalking the sidewalk, doing silly dance moves, and even singing some karaoke. Perhaps playing hide and seek is the most fun. Or snuggling in the book nook while Grandma reads a good book. So many fun things happen at Noah’s Grandma’s house. He’s sad when the day comes to an end but also happy because he also knows he can come back to spend another fun day at Grandma’s.

Reesa Shayne’s picture book story, My Day With Grandma, is a tender, sweet story about that special bond that exists between a child and a grandparent. Noah shares a special bond with his Grandma, and the two have so much fun together. The story is told in rhyming verse with simple language written in bold script to help the young reader follow along. The plot follows Noah’s many adventures and fun times with Grandma. What appears to be a simple day is really one filled with all kinds of fun activities and, of course, lots of special love, the kind only Grandmas can share. The story is simple, with bright, bold, colorful illustrations. The message is as simple as the story itself: love is beautiful, especially that unique kind of love between a grandparent and a grandchild. “To spend a full day with Grandma and play… she is my best friend.” Very heartwarming, this is definitely a treasure to be shared between children and their special grandparents.

Outstanding and lovable illustrations will draw children into the book My Day with Grandma, while the story will keep them entertained. Children love stories that rhyme, and with the easy-to-read font, they’ll be able to read it themselves one day. Children and parents will adore this loving story with full-page illustrations. Author Reesa Shayne has written an easy-to-read story with simple words and bold illustrations for early readers. I love the font choice with a regular “g,” as if it was printed with a brown marker. It’s a very readable typeface. I love books that encourage interactivity and using your imagination. After reading this story, you’ll want to act out some of the suggestions in this book and add some of your own. You and Grandma could play a board game, do a puzzle, or hike the imaginary trail inside—or outside—your home.

Children will love acting out all the activities he does with his Grandma in the book My Day with Grandma. The fun, adorable artwork by illustrator Juanita Taylor offers suggestions on what you can do with Grandma, such as drawing with sidewalk chalk, playing hide-and-go-seek, or reading a book. The main character is very lucky to have a grandma to sing and dance with who loves him very much. The artist packs a lot of emotion into every page. Author Reesa Shayne has created a loving story to share with parents or grandparents. Wouldn’t your grandma be thrilled to receive this book as a gift—a way of thanking her for all that she does—or a hint of what you’d like her to do when caring for grandchildren?
