My Little Trouble by Onaolapo Dagunduro is a story about the importance of having patience. My Little Trouble is part of the Emilia's Adventures series that teaches helpful lessons and skills to young readers. Emilia is excited to be celebrating her birthday. She has everything all set up, and the party begins. Everything is going well until her little sister Chloe decides to start causing trouble! Will Emilia be able to enjoy her birthday party with her friends, or will her little sister steal the show? Written in an engaging and humorous tone, this is a delightful read. Saoirse Lou’s beautiful illustrations make this story pop and are a lovely choice.
I love that Onaolapo Dagunduro chose to use a birthday party to set the tone of the story. There are few days as exciting in the minds of young children as their birthday party. Emilia can think of nothing worse than having her party crashed by her little sister! What would her friends think? This fun story takes readers on an interesting adventure as Emilia learns to see her sister in a new light by the end of the day. My Little Trouble is a heartfelt reminder to be patient and to consider others. The story tackles a situation many children know well in an encouraging and understanding way. Being a sibling is not always easy, but with some patience and kindness, these early years can be the start of something beautiful. My Little Trouble is a wonderful story that is sure to be a new favorite. This colorful and entertaining read helps give a new perspective on being an older sister.
