In My Sister’s Keeper by Ralph Dellapiana, Bella Bravo finds herself in a nightmare situation. It starts when Bella leaves for prom night, looking gorgeous. But her selfish date abandons her in a dark and isolated place. Bella is vulnerable. Unfortunately, soon she is in danger when human traffickers kidnap her. Bella has martial arts training, but it is not enough. Bella’s father is stressed and worried, but the police make no progress on the case. An agent of the Sisterhood and a close friend of Bella’s father decide to step in and save Bella from being lost forever. They immediately try to rescue Bella. However, the cruel traffickers will not make it easy for them.
My Sister’s Keeper by Ralph Dellapiana is an absolutely riveting book and a must-read; fast-paced and filled with action scenes. The book quickly hooked me when the men kidnapped Bella. The author does an excellent job of setting the scene and unfolding events at a steady pace. The author created a sense of urgency and knew how to keep the reader in suspense. Later, when events take an ugly turn, the narrative provides a realistic view of the terrible ordeals that young girls are exposed to when they are taken against their will or under false pretenses. The dialogue is good and fits the realistic scenes. I was shocked when Bella was taken. It is a familiar scenario, but still frightening as one fears for one’s children’s lives.
