Natalie's Red Dress is the ninth installment in The Candy Cane Girls series by Bonnie Engstrom. It can be read as a standalone novel and is easy to follow because readers learn about the characters along with Alan, the new man in town. His curiosity and interest in the community members help readers understand the relationship dynamics and personalities of the Candy Canes. The story covers sensitive topics like trauma, breast cancer, physical and emotional scars, and drug abuse that many people are facing in our society today. The author raises awareness and gives statistics about breast cancer at the beginning of the book. I liked the comedic incident with the nosy neighbor because it brought a light-hearted note to the story. The book is well written, with chapters beginning with a character's name; this makes the story easy to follow and understand. I recommend this book to anyone who loves reading Christian novels that perfectly blend humor and emotional elements.
