If you enjoy a good mystery that keeps you guessing until almost to the end, then Necessary Decisions, A Gino Cataldi Mystery by Giacomo Giammatteo would be the right choice for you. Gino Cataldi, the main character, is an incredibly likable man with a tragic past. When he gets a new case, a kidnapping of a teenage girl, he is not very happy about it because even though his past kidnapping cases brought the victims home alive, the experiences still haunt him. When the father of the girl appears to be not very touched by the kidnapping, this only increases his negativity. However, Gino is determined to solve the case. Things soon start to go very wrong though, and the mystery becomes even stranger.
I started reading Necessary Decisions in the morning and was shocked when I looked at the clock after a few coffees just to realize it was already after 6 p.m. I finished the book on the same day, staying up longer than usual - it was just that good! Gino is a man women will simply like - he's just a perfect man in a way (apart from him not being real!). All the characters in the book are very well described and many are quite likeable. You get drawn into the story and live in it, and feel like you get to know the characters very well yourself. The writing is well done and keeps the attention of the reader. You simply have to read the next chapter, and then the next...
