Nexus is a supernatural mystery novella by N.G. Avant. Four women, strangers to each other, arrive in the city of Salem on Halloween, not knowing their lives will be changed forever. Gina, Jane, Arya, and Maria couldn't be more different. They all come from different backgrounds. But soon, the discovery of an eerily similar birthmark that the women share shakes their common-sense rationale. The four women also form an unexpected bond with each other, and one by one, awaken their unique magical abilities. They are also visited by their own guides and magic keepers. After hearing a mysterious voice foretelling a prophecy, Jane, Gina, Arya, and Mary decide to hold a séance and summon a goddess to shed light on their destinies. They soon learn that they must right a past wrong.
If you're into supernatural mysteries involving witches, goddesses, and prophecies, Nexus is what you're looking for. Inspired by the events of the Salem Witch Trials, author N.G. Avant has spun a fascinating yarn full of magic, mystery, and intrigue. Avant paces the plot in a way that makes for a quick read. There is not a single dull moment in the entire book. The magic and mystery aside, it's the camaraderie between the four main characters that truly immerses you in the story. The four protagonists all have distinct personalities, yet their newfound friendship feels authentic and heartwarming. The book ends on a cliffhanger, which means there will most definitely be a sequel. As I thoroughly enjoyed the novella, I'm looking forward to reading the sequel, too. Highly recommended.
