No Books for Benjamin? by R.G. de Rouen is a charming picture book about a book-loving purple worm named Benjamin who lives in the Library of Congress. When a strange illness causes libraries to close, Benjamin is devastated to learn that children around the world no longer have access to books. Determined to help, he rallies his insect friends to devise a creative plan to bring books back into kids' lives. With teamwork, clever problem-solving, and a whole lot of heart, the tiny team sets out on a big mission. The fun facts section at the end is one of the book's highlights. It covers the insects featured throughout the story, adding an educational layer to an already engaging read.

As an educator, I found No Books for Benjamin? by R.G. de Rouen to be a wonderful celebration of both literacy and collaboration. The story highlights how every individual has something important to contribute, even the smallest among us. Benjamin’s journey is a powerful reminder of the value of teamwork, perseverance, and thinking outside the box. I also loved how the book gently reinforces the message that books are not just entertainment but essential, especially during tough times. The illustrations by Uliana Barabash are vibrant and dynamic, with expressive characters and colorful scenes that will capture and keep young readers’ attention. The visual energy on each page makes it a perfect read-aloud choice. The fun insect facts at the end are a great addition, offering teachers and caregivers opportunities to extend the story into science or nature discussions. Overall, this is a delightful, heartwarming story that belongs in every early childhood classroom and home library. I can easily see students lighting up at the colorful scenes and rooting for Benjamin’s mission. This story reminds us just how far a love of reading—and a little teamwork—can take us.
