Amy McNulty brings confusion and heartache to life in the second book of The Never Veil series, Nobody’s Lady. After Noll broke the curse on the men in her village and their obligation to love their goddesses, they find themselves without direction or purpose. They are free to love who they want. But when their lord decides to proclaim all marriages null and void, Noll suffers with the guilt of her part in all of this. Being rejected by the lord as well, Noll resolves to live on her own and come to terms with the changes around her. When Noll decides to help her friends accept this new way of life, she discovers she has become involved in a dangerous plan she wants no part of.

Author Amy McNulty has expanded on the lore and customs of this tiny village between the mountains and done so perfectly. Writing in the first-person narrative from the goddess's perspective helps the reader get to know her better and gain insight into her thoughts and feelings. The pacing is steady, making you want to keep reading page after page. Characters are likable and very relatable in this fantasy, aided by dialogue that keeps readers entertained. There is more than enough action and mystery in this book to drive the plot forward. Nobody’s Lady is suitable for young adult readers and all fans of fantasy fiction alike. I can’t wait to start the next book in this series and uncover the truth about the people in this little village.
