Ohio 10 is a work of fiction in the crime, suspense, and thriller subgenres. It is best suited to the mature reading audience owing to scenes of graphic violence and some use of explicit language and was penned by author A. V. Smith. In this truly thrilling tale of crooked figures in high places, we find ourselves immersed in a complex detective tale. As the title suggests, Ohio plays host to the tale, with a team from Columbus dead set on uncovering political corruption and bad cops with ulterior motives. But how will they sort the good from the wicked, and can they do so in time?

It can be tricky to maintain the suspense of a good mystery novel for the whole length of the tale, but author A. V. Smith does an impressive job of maintaining both pace and mystery in this intriguing and action-packed tale. One of the features of the novel which really enhances this feeling is the construction of the dialogue, which helps to sneak tidbits of vital information and precious clues into the dialogue, moving the plot forward without the need for huge chunks of expansive prose. I also found the character journey to be really interesting, with the various figures of the team complementing one another with a surprising set of combined skills. I felt each was given an appropriate time to shine without there being one specific hero for too long. Overall, I’d certainly recommend Ohio 10 to fans of immersive crime dramas with atmosphere and complexity aplenty.

Police detectives hold the line in the urban fiction novel Ohio 10 by A.V. Smith. Smith explores the workings of a team with the force in Columbus, Ohio against a backdrop of crime that occurs from within and from without. The scenes are gritty and unreserved and social themes are explored as a murder mystery involving what appears to be a serial killer roils quickly to the boil. In addition to this plot, readers are introduced to fly-on-the-wall peeks into the private lives of Cole's team, and the impact this has on their work. Between discrimination, corruption, gender-role stereotypes, culture clashes, and life beyond the beat, Smith works to connect the dots between intent versus impact when it pertains to the law and those who are supposed to serve and protect.

Ohio 10 kicks off with a strong start and there's no question that readers will be lured in by the writing of chapter one by A.V. Smith. We get a sense of who we are going to be spending the next few hundred pages with, and some true doozies of crimes that require a team focused on detective work. As the book moves forward, more characters are introduced to various degrees but most also have voice enough to stand on their own two feet. Interactions between police and the public, which include the detectives and their own families, further strengthen character development. The writing is straightforward but could be a little cleaner technically. However, the novel engages well with readers who enjoy a substance over style approach. Recommended.

Ohio 10 by A.V. Smith is a contemporary thriller centered on a group of police officers in Columbus, Ohio, and the lives that swirl around them, whether personal or professional, living or dead. Narrated in the third-person past tense from a mostly omniscient point of view, the chapters are broken down into seven distinct and interconnected parts of a linear timeline. A team of officers and detectives take on multiple crimes in tandem that range from the murder of an estranged couple within days of each other, a murder victim who is a transgender woman, a sex-trafficking ring that involves children, a “Heartbreak Killer”, and a custody dispute that escalates to an officer down and a little boy gone, among several others.

A.V. Smith does well in pulling a lot of themes together in a moderately condensed period of page time in Ohio 10. The characters are exceptionally well developed and Cole, Travis, and Vania—the sole female on Cole's team—are true standouts. Travis's complex relationship with his mother and the community he grew up in add a level of genuine authenticity to the subplots, and he was probably the one I enjoyed following the most. That said, it is the ancillary characters that aren't even on the force that secure a balance between the more substantial, heavy topics and moments of levity. In one of the best scenes of the novel, an informant of questionable morals holds up a $20 bill from Cole to check that it's real. Given the instances of dirt dredged up from within the force itself, there's almost a brilliant piece of irony to the transaction. On the flip side, sexism and racism have a weight that carries from one generation to the next. Vania's grandfather has the point of view that women belong in the home, and Captain recalls a decades-old conversation with clarity, having been told, “Do you see any colored people on the squad? There is no room for you, even if you were qualified.” Overall, a good read and worth the weekend it takes to breeze through it.

1st of all the characters completely jumped off the pages! I don't remember the last time reading a novel the kept me intrested in all of the characters. Crime, intrigue, romance, action, politics. A roller coaster of nuances in one read. You know you're having fun reading a book when you're smiling through it! Good job Mr. Smith, can't wait for your follow up because, this can't be over!

Once I started reading Ohio 10 I couldn't stop. When I did put the book down, after completing a chapter, I would pick it up again minutes later to start new one. With relatable characters and relevant stories, it is so easy to be pulled into the author's world for hours. I cannot speak highly enough of this book. Kudos to A.V Smith!

Let me start off by saying how timely this book is. OH 10 deals with "real world and "real life" issues. A.V. Smith touches on topics and themes that many authors won't touch or refuse too. For instance, there are chapters that deal with police brutality, discrimination, trust, family and LGBTQ + issues, just to name a few. The themes and topics are on the lines of some drama shows like NCIS, Law & Order and Cops. What a thought provoking and profound novel that I can't sum it up in four words: It's a must read!

A tale about great police versus awful police in the midst of a warped, criminal, and political system. Situated in the capital city of Ohio, the narratives encompass an assorted gathering of Columbus analysts. In defying these subjects, Smith inconspicuously urges us to be the best people we can be for ourselves, and for each other.AV Smith addresses points and topics that many creators won't contact or reject as well. For example, there are parts that arrangement with police ruthlessness, separation, trust, family and LGBTQ+ issues, just to give some examples. The subjects and points are on the lines of some dramatization shows like NCIS, Law and Order and Cops. I personally loved reading this book. One of a kind and I enjoyed reading it If you want to know grab your copy and start reading. This book is definitely worth the purchase and worth the read.

“Ohio 10 would be great for anyone who enjoys shows like Law & Order or CSI. Each short story follows a different case being investigated by detectives in Columbus, Ohio. Overall I found this book to be an interesting concept. The stories move quickly so you have to pay attention to details...”

I LOVE OHIO 10! The story surrounds a modern day team of both seasoned and young police detectives, doing their best to keep a lid on crime in and around their city. I particularly enjoyed the camaraderie with this team of detectives. Each with distinct personalities and backstories, that lets the reader in on the life they lead during, and away from the job. Just fallible human beings like the rest of us. Detective Vania (the only female on the team) is capable, cool, and easygoing, but as a female cop, has to prove her worth to the boys. Just facts. Travis and Vania have to learn to trust each other to seal their bond as colleagues. Their lives depend on it. Cole and Everett have the kind of friendship that can only develop over time and unique, shared experiences. They understand each other and look out for one another. The cases they investigate are compelling and interesting. The author has a keen sense of the fabric he weaves with his stories. He leaves a few breadcrumbs for the reader to follow, and unexpected twists along the way. OHIO 10 is a book you will not want to put down. The subject matter is relevant, cases compelling, and touches on the type of bad vs. good policing going on in our society today, and political turmoil that muddies up the issues for the cops and the citizens they have sworn to protect.

Ohio 10 was an awesome, page-turning experience. I loved the mysteries behind the stories and the depth of the characters that were created. I couldn't put the Kindle down!! Just purchased Ohio 10 II and can't wait to get started!! Bring it on!!

In a somewhat new direction, A. V. Smith once again displays his depth, versatility, and skill as a creative mind. Each chapter of OHIO 10 plays out as its own encapsulated tale, and all together they feel like watching a season of a great television crime drama such as Law & Order, Criminal Minds, or CSI. There is at least one mystery in every chapter, and that leaves the reader eager to discover the truth.

One incredibly important aspect of this book is how timely it is. Issues that have finally found their way to the forefront (or at least onto the radar) of American society are integral to many of the stories. The heroin epidemic, LGBTQ rights, racial discrimination, and police brutality are all addressed in one form or another, leaving the reader emotionally invested in finding resolutions to these problems, not only in the fictional world created by Smith, but also in this current reality in which we live. In confronting these topics, Smith subtly encourages us to be the best humans we can be for ourselves, and for each other.

At the end of the book, I was hungry for more, and that’s probably the highest compliment I can give. I’m excited to see where the story leads next in OHIO 10 Book II. Excellent work by A.V. Smith.

OHIO 10 by A.V. Smith is an engaging thriller!

The plot revolves around a modern-day team of experienced and new police investigators who have been doing their damnedest to keep crime in or around their city under control. The cooperation with this investigation team was quite gratifying to me. Every other chapter holds at least one mystery, leaving the audience keen to find the truth. It has a distinct personality and backstory that inform the reader about their lives both on and off the work. Just like the rest of us, they are fallible human beings. Mystery, diplomacy, seduction, action, and power are all featured in this novel. In one read, you'll experience a fairground ride of intricacies.
Detective Vania, who’s the team's only female member, is skilled, easygoing, and laid-back, yet she must establish her credentials to the boys as a female officer. To cement their friendship as colleagues, Travis and Vania must learn to trust one another. It's a matter of life and death for them. Cole and Everett get the kind of connection that can only come through shared experiences and time. They communicate well with one another and keep an eye on one another. The cases they look into are intriguing and captivating. The author is acutely aware of the fabric that his stories construct. He offers a few clues, therefore, for the reader to pursue, as well as some unexpected twists.
You will not be able to put OHIO 10 down. The content is timely, the instances are captivating, and it focuses on the varieties of policing that occurs today, be it good or bad, as well as the political unrest that muddles the issues for policemen and the population they are pledged to protect. The narrative is concise and is written diligently. The character development is on point, and not a single character is neglected in the book. It is a thought-provoking and insightful novel, and I can't summarize it in a few words; it’s an absolute must-read!

In the middle of a dishonest, criminal, and political dictatorship, a narrative about good cops vs evil cops is told. The stories are set in Ohio's capital city and revolve around a varied group of Columbus detectives. Against all difficulties, the squad takes on the impossible goal of keeping their integrity and staying alive while bringing the whole city to justice.

A well-written narrative about a crime-fighting squad and the murder cases that they look into. Because the book is so fast-paced, readers must pay attention while reading it, rather than reading it while being distracted. As a creative thinker, the author demonstrates his depth, diversity, and competence. "OHIO 10" is divided into chapters, each of which tells its own story. This novel is loaded with love, obstacles, beauty, and profound feelings that have engulfed my thoughts to the point where I am eagerly anticipating the next book's mystery. The reader will undoubtedly notice the author's extensive study while writing the book due to the complexities of the plot.

Every intriguing genre is represented in the book: crime, intrigue, romance, action, and politics. The novel was fascinating and action-packed. The plot was quite well-explained. The characters were well depicted. Throughout the novel, the intricacies of their background and growth are seen. In one read, you'll experience a roller coaster of intricacies. Ohio 10 was a fantastic, page-turning adventure. I was enthralled by the mystery that surrounded the story, as well as the complexity of the characters that were built. I was eager for more after the book, which is perhaps the biggest compliment I can provide. With the world-building and storytelling, the author has done an excellent job. This is a fantastic component for the series' second edition. There's also the cliffhanger! Oh, my gosh, I can't wait to get my hands on Ohio II.
