One Margarita is the first title in Kerry Evelyn's Brewer Brides Series. Keegan hopes to pinpoint an eighth selection for his family's craft beer label, but his recipe is lacking something. Astoria builds a restaurant next to Keegan's family's establishment, and even though she intends to offer a different experience, she still seems like competition to her childhood friend. Astoria wants to learn more about brewing beer, and her best source could be Keegan. Keegan is loyal to his family, but after one margarita, he agrees to help Astoria learn about the brewing process in exchange for a recipe that may help him with his label. The two are drawn to each other, but her disordered lifestyle and his need for structure may cause problems.
Kerry Evelyn pulls readers into Keegan's life as they wait to hear about the heartbreak that crushed him, and they stay for the sweet romance they hope succeeds between Keegan and Astoria. Readers will learn about Palmer City until they are part of the community, befriending hockey players and Olympic contenders and feeling grounded in the layered history. They also get to see budding relationships or secret crushes from Keegan's and Astoria's alternating perspectives. As Keegan tutors Astoria in the beer-making process, the author gives a lot of advice on brewing beer and offers more than a few tricks about flavoring beverages. One Margarita is a great selection for readers who enjoy small-town stories and romance with the hijinks of a cute kitten thrown in for good measure.
