One with the Grime at the Bottom is a crime thriller by Simon James Wood. It's been just five days in a new city when Morgan's life turns upside down as she is caught in the middle of a killing spree perpetrated by gangsters. She finds herself taken captive by a woman named Nina and her accomplices. Nina and her friends want to frame Morgan for killing the man who allegedly murdered their boss' son. After their boss Mad Mel - the ruling crime lord of the city - takes a liking to Morgan, it starts a chain of events that can only end up in a full-scale gang war. With the funerals of the sons of two hardened crime bosses in sight, all hell could break lose. Can Morgan get away with her life?
Full of suspense, ruthless double crossings, and thrilling action sequences, One with the Grime at the Bottom is a tale of crime and mayhem you don't want to miss. Simon James Wood's fast-paced crime drama feels more like a movie than a novel. That's a good thing. Whether it's the unexpected betrayals with every major character hatching a plan or the vividly described action scenes, Wood's narrative is cinematic and keeps you immersed in their world. Each character has a distinct personality and a story arc that gives agency to their actions. Apart from Morgan, I also enjoyed the characters of Nina and Yuki. A fantastic read for anyone who loves crime drama thrillers.
