Over the past half-century, America has been the leader of the free world. A country whose financial prowess and military might give it the freedom to pursue its values and ideals as it sees fit. But there has been a growing divide in America based on politics, wealth accumulation, religion, race, and ethnicity over the past couple of decades or so. Onward, At Last by Kevin Howard delves into the reasons for America's recent fall from grace and explains how successive regimes backed by both major political parties have only ever worked in their own self-interest at the cost of the American people. Through well-researched arguments and theories, Howard explores the nature of truth with all its complications, the impact of the free-market economy on the general populace, and the pursuit of self-preservation at the expense of everyone else.
Onward, At Last, is an illuminating essay on the ills plaguing the most powerful country on the planet. A banker by profession, author Kevin Howard provides a thorough account of the issues that have led most of the American population to join the rat race of survival while the top 1% of the 1% hoards more and more wealth and resources in their neverending pursuit of power. Howard has sharp criticism for the leaders and institutions that have made people's freedom relative to their capacity to earn money. The book forces you to introspect and question whether the long-held American ideals and traditions hold up to today's generation who chase the American dream. A thought-provoking book that I highly recommend.
