How ironic that the day Lacey’s divorce was finalized she was at the wedding of a very good friend. Lacey had returned to Wirralong from Perth after she left her husband some months ago and it was a place she could finally call home. She needed to return to Perth to straighten up her financial side of the divorce. Lacey had been fighting her attraction to the sexy policeman in town since she arrived. Cameron James had returned home recently to a town that was changing. There were a lot more single ladies than when he left, but he was not looking for marriage. A wife and kids were not what Cameron wanted as he sat and watched his friend Ben, who looked ridiculously happy, about to marry. But he soon finds himself flirting with Lacey Jerome when sitting next to her at the ceremony. They both find themselves in a one-night stand, leading to a turn of events that will change their plans in life. Lacey leaves town to go back to Perth and Cameron is left wondering why he is still thinking about her. What will happen when Lacey returns eight months later?
This is my first story by Australian author Fiona McArthur and I must say I totally enjoyed Lacey. This is the first book of the Outback Brides of Wirralong series. I found the writing style to be very descriptive, full of fun and heart-warming moments that keep you engrossed with the story and characters. You get a great sense of the Australian outback in this story and you can almost feel like you are right there with the characters. This is sweet read and the chemistry between the two is evident throughout with twists and turn to keep you wanting more. The story is a nice straightforward read which flows well with a plot that keeps you reading until the very end. I would recommend this book and this series to anyone that loves a small-town rural romance with a happy ending. This is a very relatable story about characters and events just might happen in real life.
