Owl Be Seeing You (A Grumpy the Iguana and Green Parrot Adventure) by Susan Marie Chapman is a picture book intended for ages 3 to 8. The book is about Screech Owl, who comes to a park to meet the female owl with whom he hopes to spend his life, Miss Screech Owl. But she initially fails to show. When Screech Owl calls out to her, he wakes up Grumpy the Iguana, who wants to know who is making a noise and why. Grumpy goes back to bed, only to be woken again when Miss Screech Owl arrives. He is initially annoyed, but then kindly and compassionately helps Miss Screech Owl until Screech Owl sees that she has arrived. The book, which is a love story, is illustrated by Natalia Loseva and is part of the Iguana and Green Parrot Adventure series.
Owl Be Seeing You by Susan Marie Chapman is a charming children's book. My children would have enjoyed either reading it or having it read to them when they were at the intended age of 3 to 8. Furthermore, children will learn some facts about screech owls, as indeed I did. They will also learn about compassion and persistence, as Grumpy helps Miss Screech Owl and as Screech Owl waits for the love of his life. The illustrations by Natalia Loseva are beautiful and fit the narrative perfectly. I recommend this book for anyone who is looking for an appealing love story for children.
