Partners in Time: A Harry and Jett Adventure is a work of fiction in the historical, time travel, and adventure subgenres. It is intended for the middle-grade reading audience and was penned by author Nicholas Hodgson. In this thrilling adventure tale, we meet Jett and Harry, two young friends whose lives take an unexpected turn when they discover a real underground tunnel connecting wartime London to modern-day New Zealand. While Jett initially thinks Harry's time travel claims are imaginative, they soon realize that the tunnel holds the key to actual time travel. However, meddling with the fabric of time has consequences. The book explores their adventures as they navigate the challenges of fixing history and restoring the timeline. It's a tale of friendship, unexpected discoveries, and the potential ramifications of altering the past.
Author Nicholas Hodgson has lovingly crafted an enjoyable experience filled with whimsy, adventure, and a touch of humor just when it’s most needed. The story cleverly weaves together the excitement of time travel with relatable themes of friendship and responsibility, and I found the immersive quality of the description second to none. Nicholas Hodgson's writing captivates young readers with its imaginative storytelling as we weave between the here and now and dangerous wartime, crossing barriers and learning about the protagonists’ inner strength. The characters' journey teaches valuable lessons about the consequences of our actions, and there are some poignant, serious moments, but of course, the inclusion of adorable quirks like the cheese toasties adds tons of charm and relatability to the tale. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend Partners in Time for MG readers everywhere, and I can’t wait to see what more this exciting series has in store.
