Penny Angel and the Black Diamond is the first book in the Penny Angel Series by Sherry Briscoe. After being found innocent of murdering her missing husband, Penny Angel leaves her troubled life behind to be near her brother, Peter, and godmother, Belle. To this day, Penny has no clue what happened to her husband. While looking through their recently deceased mother's belongings, Penny finds a ring with strange symbols and a black diamond. The moment she puts on the ring, Sabine Umberland starts losing her magic and will do anything to get it back. Many magical beings suddenly appear in Penny's life - werewolves, witches, angels, empaths, Nephilim...and magic. Peter and Penny use their inheritance to buy a local pub (The Black Diamond) before hiring wait staff, including a werewolf, Ruby...
Sherry Briscoe certainly packs a punch and more in Penny Angel and the Black Diamond and I was left seriously craving more. The ultimate battle between good and evil is in full swing, and with what seems like Karma in play regarding evil, I can only applaud. It was interesting to see which parties were involved, with many working for the Umberland Coven, but hopefully, those fighting on Penny's side prevail. I enjoyed how the werewolves and the witches were collaborating as the two species normally loathe working together in any form. Sherry Briscoe has produced a paranormal thriller like none I have ever read before and I truly enjoyed every moment. I eagerly await the second installment in the Penny Angel Series, and recommend it to die-hard fans of paranormal novels.
