Looking for a modern-day Cinderella story? Then put the brakes on and call it a day. Plain Jane Wanted by Rose Amberly is your next stop. Don’t let the name fool you; Plain Jane Wanted is anything but boring. We set sail on the English Channel where a heartbroken Millie Summers is on her way to fill a job ad for someone that fits her description: simple and beige. But, that all changes when she arrives on a small rustic island to find sunshine, friendship, and new love. George Du Monfort is a handsome lawyer and the son of Lord Du Monfort, who seems to have taken a shine to the plain Jane he hired except she isn’t what he expected. No one expected Millie to have the power to change the old man’s hardened heart, least of all George’s heart.
This chick-lit story is about second chances, finding confidence, and renewing self-worth. Plain Jane reminds us to cease judging a book by its cover before you get to know the truth of what is inside. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, am I right? In any case, Rose Amberly weaves a tale of what it means to bloom into yourself. Though there may not be a rollercoaster of deep emotions or turmoil within the story, there is still the realistic life of one heroine who has to learn to love herself to love someone else. Readers will be inspired to take a look at themselves in the process and recognize the importance of taking care of their own well-being.
