Planning For Love is the story of Poppy Reagan, a type A personality with terrible luck in the dating and love department. Poppy’s problem is that she chooses poorly, bad boys mostly and cheaters, and they never result in the happy ending she desperately wants. So she does what any self-respecting woman does when she’s ready to settle down; she looks for love online. Too bad for Poppy that her Hawaiian fling is the only man she can think about. But Adam the dermatologist lives in Ohio, a far cry from her busy California life. The last thing Poppy wants or needs is a long distance relationship so they enjoy a fun e-flirtation that reveals so much about each of them. Ellen Butler did a great job creating fun and lovable characters that are real and appealing.
One of the things I loved that Ellen Butler did in this book was make Poppy strong and witty, not depressed and simpering. Her plans for revenge against her collection of cheating bad boys with commitment issues was not just genius, it was laugh out loud funny! Then there were her online dates that made Planning For Love an unforgettable romantic comedy. When Adam is finally able to convince Poppy to meet up with him halfway between Ohio and California, she surprisingly agrees and boy do things get hot! But there is still the issue of geography. Can either of them give up their respective lives and careers, or can a long distance relationship work? I loved that Poppy actually grew and that helped her get what she wanted from life, and that made this story Ellen Butler crafted even more enjoyable.
