Positopia World: The Hidden Portal is a children's picture book written by Linda J. Cronin and illustrated by John F. Sullivan. The story follows Jack, a little boy who does not know how to control his emotions. His brain feels like it changes colors like traffic lights. When Jack is angry, his brain turns red, yellow when he is sad or worried, and green when he is happy or calm. Jack wishes to be in the green state all of the time, but he always finds himself in situations that turn his brain red or yellow. One day, Jack is playing in his backyard when he suddenly slips and falls into a hidden opening in a hedge. When he opens his eyes to see where he landed, Jack finds himself in a magical land with beautiful hills and talking animals. Follow Jack as he learns how to control his emotions from these magical creatures.
Positopia World has a vital message for all youngsters. I love books that raise awareness about overlooked topics like children's emotions. Children find it difficult to control their feelings and do not know how to calm themselves. If this persists, they may develop unhealthy coping mechanisms, which can lead to alcoholism, drug abuse, and many other vices later in life. Linda J. Cronin has created a perfect teaching tool for kids to understand their emotions and how to calm down. John F. Sullivan's illustrations are not only beautiful and colorful, but they are also strategically designed. Jack's head glowed with his emotional colors throughout the book. Beautiful work. Parents, guardians, and educators should read this book today and invest in activities that help children to control their emotions.
