Hot, fun, and in parts, heartbreaking. Those are the words I would use to describe Promise to Love, the recent release by author Melissa Silvey. Follow the story of 19-year-old student Heather as she does all she can to support herself and pay for college at the same time. Certainly not born with a silver spoon in her mouth, Heather has found a way to pay her way, but it certainly isn't easy. She works as her alter ego, Violet, a stripper who will go even further than that if the price is right. When she shows up to dance at a bachelor party, she finds that the man of the hour is none other than her professor, Brian Calamari, the man she's had a crush on all semester. Between him and a new man in Heather's life, Rick Young, an interesting love triangle ensues. Will Heather ever believe that she's good enough as herself, and be able to give up her life as Violet? And which man is willing to help her realize that she is good enough?
Author Melissa Silvey's work is hard to put down. When I picked up Promise to Love, I only had a short time to read, and boy did I regret that. As soon as I could get back to the book, I did, because I just had to find out what happened in Heather's life. Promise to Love is a book that would appeal to any reader who likes chick lit, hot romance, and a book with a great storyline. I am pleased to recommend this book, and am eagerly waiting to read the second installment in this series.
