Rage in the Wilderness is a gripping story by Kathryn Lane that delves into different themes like suspense, adventure, and thrills. The main character, Nikki Garcia, is a private investigator who takes a break with her husband, spending a holiday at her brother Andy's house in New Mexico. When a fire breaks out in the northeast of the Santa Fe Mountains, they are forced to evacuate the house, but during the evacuation, Andy's assistant goes missing. Nikki and her husband set out to find him, but things take a dramatic turn when Nikki loses Eduardo as well. She embarks on a dangerous quest to uncover secrets about the past and the missing assistant, Sammy. Being a part of Nikki's chase to discover the truth is truly an exhilarating experience.
The author has done an excellent job of clearly defining the intricate details of the plot. Research is evident in the vivid descriptions of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and the detailed investigation. Kathryn Lane vividly and flawlessly described Eduardo's side of things. From the conversations between fellow associates of the security forces, it is clear not even the minutest details have been overlooked. The characters are well-developed, and their personalities are suited to the story. The conflicting imbalance between the siblings, Nikki and Andy, highlighted from time to time, is successfully done. The pace of the story is appropriately balanced to keep readers engaged in this thrilling pursuit. The plot has several twists and turns that will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the very end. I recommend Rage in the Wilderness by Kathryn Lane to anyone who enjoys mystery or detective fiction.
