Author Biography

Most people have a vision. Mine is to create and share wonderfully passion filled stories, alive with action, sprinkled with humor and always, always -- a happy ending. Remember, only Passion can bring a Vision to Life.

After living many enjoyable years in Arlington Texas my husband and I retired to southeast Oklahoma. It is here that I finally realized my dream of becoming a published author.

When I decided to try my hand at writing, I did what every other aspiring author does... I looked back at my family history for a story to tell. To my disappointment, there was nothing very exciting in my family line. I haven't given up on my family. I'm sure there is a story there somewhere. But..., when I turned my attention to my husband's family... WOW..., I found a character on whom I just could not turn my back. This man inspired the entire Passion's series.

Again, like any aspiring author, I read everything I could find on this ancestor of my husband's. I read, took notes on the palm of my hand, the back of my hand, on my wrist, grocery store tabloids, gum wrappers, tiny notepads, anything I could get my hands on. I even carried a tiny recorder. I just had to do this because there is no timetable or appropriate location for inspiration. It just happens. During my more organized moments, I created a file to keep track of any historical events pertinent to my story. I created a basic outline containing interesting, exciting, death-defying and romantic escapades of my hero that I was sure would thrill my readers. The whole experience of writing is glorious in a way only an author can understand.

Raven’s Passion is a wonderful young adult book written by Mary Adair. Raven is raised by his adoptive parents. He is a confused, temperamental young man who does not know who his white biological father is, and feels like a misfit with the Cherokees. He does his best to adjust, but the taunts of some Indians always remind him that he is a half breed. Raven’s adoptive father, Red Panther, is a good role model, but Raven yearns to know his father. When Indians are abducted by ruthless men, Raven and a war party search for them, encountering challenges along the way. Raven faces these challenges with courage while fighting his own personal battle.

Although Raven’s Passion has a setting in the untamed western frontier, the story is one that many young adults will find interesting. It deals with issues that today’s younger generation often faces. One of these is the burning desire to know the biological parent who has been absent from their lives since birth. I thought author Mary Adair did well, creating characters that were so realistic with their problems. She skillfully displayed how people lived in the past, while making the different personalities and feelings of the characters connect with the reader. I am impressed with the quality writing I have seen, as well her expertise on Indian history. This is the first book I have read from Mary Adair, but I do intend to read more from this author.
