Ready, Set, OPA! by Demetra Tsavaris-Lecourezos takes young readers on a journey to Greece along with George, Eleni, and Maria. It is their first visit to Greece and the three children are excited. Once they land in Athens, they run into Stas, Leah, and Billy who are there to see Mrs. Eva’s Magical Crystal Globe in action. While waiting for the luggage to arrive, the kids pass their time with the Magical Crystal Globe. They then decide to close their eyes and imagine that they are at a festival, pretending to be Greek gods and goddesses. The story enables children to experience the culture and history of Greece and is a good learning experience for them.

It is an excellent story that will encourage children to travel to new places and experience the culture there. The story also makes readers imagine and takes them back in time to the Olympic Games and the architecture that once existed. The illustrations capture the essence and ambiance of Greece, and give a good pace and movement to the story. There is a lot of information in the story about Greece, and the book is not only informative but also educational for readers as it teaches them about Greece. The book can be used for good reference material in school libraries and can be used for interactive sessions in classrooms.
