Author Biography

I write romantic suspense-adventure under the name Kiva Wolfe, a pen name I created in 2002 using my dog's name and breed. Long before I published anything, I was a museum curator, a media contributor, and a Colorado kid who read everything she could get her hands on. These days, I make my home in Arizona, where writing, poetry, and a lifelong curiosity keep me busy in the best way.

My first novel, Red Flash, came out in 2005 and found new life in a 2025 re‑release, followed by its sequel, Tears of Iemanjá, in 2026. I’m now starting The Price of Fire, the final book in the Gem Provenance Legacy series, while also exploring a new mystery series. My poetry collections—Her Inconvenient Elegy and Her Song of Sorrows—explore memory, grief, love, and redemption.

My love of storytelling started early. I grew up on White Fang, The Call of the Wild, Nancy Drew, and those wonderfully eerie Hitchcock anthologies that introduced me to Ray Bradbury and Robert Bloch.

The idea for the book series began with a dream my younger sister shared over a glass of Cabernet. I asked if I could turn it into a story, and she said yes. That small moment became a novel, a sequel, and a reminder that stories often arrive the way dreams do—unexpected, generous, and full of possibility.

Red Flash by Kiva Wolfe tells the story of the Stanovic family, a group of wealthy gem traders with connections from the Brazilian jungle to Denver. Sérg Stanovic is the father, a powerful and controlling man trading gems both legally and illegally. His choices directly affect Dominick, his young son Urie, and his partner, Mala. Dominick tries to stay loyal to Sérg, yet he is drawn to Mala romantically. On the other hand, Mala is trapped in a tense relationship with Sérg. Meanwhile, Urie becomes an unexpected witness to violence, putting him in danger and forcing him to navigate adult threats before he is ready. Will Dominick, Urie, and the others find a way to survive and protect themselves from the dangers surrounding them?

Kiva Wolfe’s Red Flash blends crime, thriller, and suspense with a detailed look at family and personal struggles. The story is set in Brazil and Denver, linking the gemstone business to secrets, lies, and human conflicts. Characters are written with depth, showing ambition, loyalty, and the consequences of power. Sérg is dominant and controlling, while Dominick is strong and bold. This clash between their personalities fuels the main drama. Mala and Urie provide perspectives on how trauma and limited choices affect them and the people around them. Wolfe writes in a gripping style, using different points of view to help readers follow both the business world and the personal struggles of the characters. Red Flash is recommended to those who like suspense, romance, and family drama. I enjoyed every moment of it, and I think you will too.
