Revenge Never Rests by Laurie Lewis is a sequel to the alluring Secrets Never Die. Tallie Brown is still reeling from discovering that the woman she thought was her mother, Julia, was in truth her abductor. Julia's death revealed a family Tallie never knew she had. Her birth mother and twin sister had died in a crash coming to find her. The only family left is her father, and now he is missing. General Cai Kaswell was commissioned to be the next UN ambassador, but Tallie wonders if he was abducted or ran off on a clue to find the others who have gone missing. As Tallie uses the unique skills Julia instilled in her, she learns about trust, herself, and love. There is always that whisper of doubt; will she ever be enough?
I found Laurie Lewis to be an exceptional author that combines action, love, and mystique in her inspiring romance, Revenge Never Rests. It is a well-written novel that keeps you anticipating the next sinister ambush awaiting Tallie and her inner circle. The setting takes you from a secluded forest to a heavily armed private island. The characters of Tallie and Jackson generate chemistry that confuses Tallie at times. You get wholly involved in how they manage to have each other's backs when they face danger from different parts of the country. The story is memorable as it is laced with danger, captivating characters, and a riveting storyline that shifts at the whims of a twisted psychopath. I highly recommend this book for those who enjoy a clean romance woven with danger.
