Ribbons and Bows: A Holiday Collection is a collection of 5 short stories, 3 novellas, 6 flash fiction, and 3 devotionals by Heather Hart et al. and all revolve around the theme of Christmas. Angel’s Inn by Carolyn Martin tells about a youth group trip on a bus to a ski lodge. When the bus has mechanical issues, a mysterious inn appears just when they need it. Clara’s Suite Christmas by P Yates is about the daughter of a diplomat spending Christmas in Brazil. Clara plays the cello, so when she meets a family of musicians, her lonely life is changed. A Key for Christmas by Gina Holder takes place in 1888 and is about a poor family in a fishing village, scraping by with odd jobs. Missing Jack by Samantha Fury is about a missing Jack Russell Terrier that brings a couple together.
I enjoyed the variety of Christmas stories in Ribbons and Bows. I especially liked the story Missing Jack. The relationships between the man and his dogs and the young woman and her missing dog were touching. This is also a story about how God can and will change people's lives. I loved the musical story, Clara's Suite Christmas. I could visualize the instruments that the children played and the Beethoven and Mozart pieces that were played by the quintet they created. I also appreciated the romance in A Key for Christmas. I liked how the man went about courting the young lady. Angel's Inn was thought-provoking since the inn was there just when they needed it...
