Ride of Your Life: A Coast-to-Coast Guide to Finding Inner Peace is a non-fiction inspirational travel memoir written by Ran Zilca. The author had an ideal family life and was a successful entrepreneur, but he began to feel that his life was missing something; that there were things he had wanted to do with it that just weren't happening. One of those things was riding a motorcycle. He began to fantasize about a motorcycle ride that would stretch out from his home state of New York, cross the country, and end by the shores of the Pacific Ocean. He started pursuing that dream in small steps: taking a riding safety course, passing the motorcycle rider's exam at the DMV; finding a smallish motorcycle and getting out into traffic for the first time, networking with other riders, and finding mentors and friends. Then the day arrived and he set out on his journey.

Ran Zilca's non-fiction inspirational travel memoir, Ride of Your Life: A Coast-to-Coast Guide to Finding Inner Peace, is a well-written and absorbing account of the author's cross-country cycle adventure. Along the way he stops to interview a number of life coaches, professors, and other inspirational leaders, and he shares their discussions with the reader. I had a marvelous time reading about his adventures, and his interviews have given me a lot to think about. Zilca's writing particularly shines when he shares his experiences riding in difficult weather and his joy as he belts out songs while feeling like he's flying along the back roads of the United States. Along the way, he shows the reader places they've not seen before and sometimes lets them see familiar places in a whole new way. I experienced a genuine shared feeling of excitement as he neared the Pacific Ocean and his destination, but also a sense of loss as the journey came to its end. Ride of Your Life: A Coast-to-Coast Guide to Finding Inner Peace is most highly recommended.
