“Ruins of the Mind” by Craig A. Wright is a very well-conceived dystopian novel, set on a future Earth, decimated by a global virus, released from an Egyptian mummy discovered in the Sahara Desert. The evil spirit of that mummy was released at the same time, and attempted to manipulate some among the handful of surviving humans so that it ultimately could rule the new world. Roving bands of thugs steal, murder, rape, pillage and burn everyone and everything they find as they traverse their ever-widening home ranges. Smaller bands of “good guys” survive only by remaining well hidden as much as possible, coming into the open only when necessary to procure food or other resources, but often those who leave in search of such goods fail to return, and are presumed dead. The man first chosen to serve the evil spirit is actually one of the good guys, and fails utterly to further the objectives of that spirit. Consequently, the spirit selects one of the worst of the bad guys to replace him, and the two leaders spend much of the story contriving ways to kill each other.

“Ruins of the Mind” is a very good story. The author designed a number of unique approaches to tell his story, and they work very well together. The resulting tale is one that has never been told before. As such, it grips your imagination as you watch the story unfold in your mind. The story discloses countless unexpected twists and turns as it reveals itself to you, frequently challenging the mental picture you have perceived while reading it. Watch for this book to be released; it will be worth the wait.
